The Art Law Podcast by Steve Schindler and Katie Wilson-Milne is a fascinating dive into the underbelly of the art world. Fraud, copyright, Nazi-looted art, and the jurisdictions under which these laws are applied are just a few of the topics covered. A Russian oligarch sues a Swiss art dealer for selling him paintings that the oligarch found hard to sell for the price he paid. Then the oligarch goes after an auction house as an accomplice to this fraud. A famous appropriation artist who uses images from social media sites is sued (and his art dealer) by the photographers who created those images for social media. The artist has pursued fair use and copyright infringement as his modus operandi and ends up paying 5X the price of his artwork to the plaintiffs.
